Port Oasis Clothier's Guild Charter
The Port Oasis Clothier’s Guild Council shall include:

•   GuildMaster/Mistress, whose duties include organizing guild activities, assisting the
Textile Muse in co-coordinating mentors/students and selecting members to judge entries
for guild levels. Insure guild functions are organized in a timely manner and co ordinate with
autocrats. Prepare polls and agendas used at meetings.

•    Scribe,  whose primary duties will be to keep track of members and levels they are
working on. Notify guild members of activities via electronic newsletter and work closely with
the Web Minister to assure communications are dispersed in a timely manner. The scribe
will keep track of polls and results.

•    Textile Muse whose primary function is to co ordinate the advancement of applicants at
all levels.

•    Guild Librarian/Web Minister whose primary responsibilities will be to monitor library
activities and to establish and maintain the group’s web pages and e-group and work
closely with the scribe to insure information is dispersed in a timely manner.

•    Other positions may become available as the group determines a need.

Novices are expected to:
•    Maintain general participation in guild activities such as Meet and Greets, baskets for
Royalty, etc.
•    Complete two (2) projects within a calendar year.
•    Write a short paper detailing a project (materials used, methods applied, etc).
•    Call upon guild members for assistance in learning the arts and are eligible for mentoring
programs with Journeyman level or higher.
•    May discuss projects with the Textile Muse prior to beginning.

Journeymen are expected to:
•    Assist in the instruction of students.
•    Assist in judging work submitted to the guild for membership.
•    Promote textile arts, write articles for the Guild website or publish for a local  Publication
(Port Oasis Navigator).
•    Teach a clothing class at a local/regional level or make class notes available on the
guild website.
•    Complete two projects within a calendar year.
•    Elevation to an A&S award at the local/regional level  (may include Baronial awards or
awards from other Kingdoms)

Journeyman will be granted status by completing the requirements for Novice and
Journeyman and by entering an exhibit in one (1) local/regional/Kingdom juried* A&S
Competition.  

*For the purposes of this charter, “juried” shall mean a competition that is judged, not a
Populous vote, “bean count”, Baron/Baroness’ Choice, etc.

Tradesman are expected to:
•    Teach two or more classes per year and make class notes available on the guild website
or write one (1) article for various higher level SCA Publications (AEstel, Kingdom A&S
publication or Complete Anachronist).
•    Make past projects information available on the guild web site.
•    Complete two projects within a calendar year.
•    Obtain elevation to an A&S Order at the Kingdom level (may include awards from
Kingdoms other than AEthelmearc).

Tradesman also must have entered two (2) regional/Kingdom level juried A&S Competitions
and have obtained favorable comments.

Guildmembers have achieved all requirements for previous levels and have been admitted
to full membership in the Guild by vote of the Council.
•    To retain their status, Guildmembers will also be required to complete at least two
projects within a calendar year.
